Learn French… in the country
Bernadette and Antoni Hoste-Mackowski have been successfully running French and Spanish à la Carte, a private language school for all levels and ages, in London for the past 18 years. They sold it in 2004 and Bernadette is now giving mainly intensive courses in London, Brussels and France.
Bernadette - experienced French teacher
Bernadette, the native French-speaking teacher, is well known in the South London region for her excellent teaching skills. Her innovative style matches the individual needs of each pupil. She combines her enthusiasm and her sense of fun with a thoroughly professional approach to teaching the language.
Bernadette is equally at ease with young children learning French whilst playing games, as well as with teenagers having to brush up their French for exams. She has been tutoring GCSE, AS and A2 students for more than 20 years, with excellent records of examination success. She has now updated her teaching to include the new International Baccalaureate.
Bernadette also has a lot of experience teaching adults wanting to learn or improve the language for whatever reason.
Antoni - organiser, and chef
Antoni, still learning French and getting better at it, is responsible for the smooth day to day running of the school. He knows the region and organises the various activities, he drives the pupils around and is there to sort out any hitches.
Antoni is also an excellent chef. He is the one who prepares all the meals offering regional specialities using fresh local ingredients.
